Sustainability made easy with lightweight glass
Vetropack’s sustainable glass bottles made of lightweight glass is a strong argument when it comes to the environment. Lightweight glass reduces energy and raw material consumption, thereby saving resources.
New production methods make it possible to manufacture particularly thin-walled lightweight glass containers. Instead of the traditional blow-and-blow process, we use the narrow-neck-press-and-blow process. Our lightweight glass technology guarantees that our sustainable glass bottles weigh significantly less while remaining as strong and stable as their heavier predecessors. Furthermore, the ecological benefits of traditionally manufactured glass are retained. Lightweight glass packaging is 100% recyclable and completely neutral in relation to its content.
New production technology
When making lightweight glass packaging, we use the finite element method at an early stage of the design process. Our designers identify those parts of a container that is subject to particular stresses on their computer screens. Often, only minor adjustments to the geometry of the container are required to eliminate those stresses. Lightweight glass can easily be filled and stored without loss of quality.
Save with lightweight glass
Lightweight glass saves raw materials, weight and transport costs. The lower weight simplifies transport to the customer and the consumer. In addition, the cost of transport and storage are reduced. Bottlers, retailers, consumers, and the environment all benefit from this new lightness.
Reduced weight means saving resources. The significantly lower material consumption and the high proportion of recycled material used in the production of lightweight glass bottles ensure that CO2 emissions are greatly reduced. And of course, the well-known ecological credentials of glass bottles – the fact that they are 100% recyclable and entirely neutral in relation to their content – all still equally apply to lightweight glass containers.
